Spirit of Nature in Steel, Wood and Canvas
Artist’s Statement:
This show is my interpretation of nature’s spirit, as I see it, in the materials of steel ,wood and canvas. It’s been an evolving journey for me, not only in the materials but the art itself. I’ve seen my images become more expressive, free form and stylized. They’ve gone from describing nature to actually becoming part of it. Canvas, wood and now painted steel forms existing in a landscape. It’s an exhibition that chronicles that passage and makes me very happy I’m able to share it.

Sculptured Steel Paintings are artworks which can function equally well in both inside and outside environments. As the name implies they are painted sculptured forms fashioned out 1/8’’cold rolled steel. They are hand cut using a plasma cutter and finished with a cutoff wheel, sander and an assortment of files. After a primer coat has been applied they are then painstakingly finished as colorful acrylic paintings. The artwork is then protected with two or more coats of automotive grade clear acrylic paint. They can be very simply wall mounted inside with two anchor screws on the bottom (holes provided in artwork)and a small retaining clip on the top.You can also lean/mount them on outside walls or easily just plant them in the ground. You can clean the surfaces with soup and water if you wish. This makes for a fun colorful moveable art form which can blend with multiple environments.
